Company’s evolution

Founded in 1986 by Alain Dufresne and his wife France Fortier, ABBE specializes in the transformation and distribution of plastics. In 1992, the company began manufacturing custom lighting fixtures, opening metal transformation, painting, and electrical assembly departments.

In 2005, Mathieu Dufresne, specializing in industrial design, joined his parents in the company and contributed to its new growth.

In 2022, following the passing of Alain Dufresne, Mathieu and France joined forces with Serge Labbé (L’atelier de F.E.R.), who had acquired 25 years of expertise in metalworking. His entrepreneurial skills and know-how became a strategic pillar for ABBE. The newly formed management team focused on the company’s development and expansion projects.

Origin of the name ABBE

The name ABBE was chosen by the company’s founder in honor of German physicist and surgeon Ernst Karl Abbe, whose advances in optics in the 19th century made possible a complex surgical procedure that greatly improved his vision.
